The 2024 Boys’ Schools Cricket Week, hosted by Jinja SS from August 24th to 31st, marks the third consecutive time the tournament will be held outside Kampala.

This year, it returns to Jinja SS for the second time in a row, following a previous stint at Busoga College Mwiri.

The tournament will see participation from 18 schools across six regions in Uganda, an increase from 16 teams last year.

Schools have earned their spots in the finals through rigorous regional qualifiers.

Notably, Soroti from the Eastern Region will have two schools in the Nationals for the first time.

Participating schools include:

Eastern Region (Soroti): Soroti SS, Teso College Aloet

Northern Region: Gulu High School, St Joseph’s College Layibi

Nile Region (Jinja): Jinja SS, Kira College Butiki, St James SS, Busoga College Mwiri, Horizon International School

Central Region: Ndejje SS, Delhi Public School, Shree Sahajanand School Uganda, St John’s SS, Aga Khan High School, King’s College Budo

Western Region: Nyakasura School

The event, supported by the Uganda Cricket Association, will be hosted by East Enders Hub and take place across six venues in Jinja: Jinja SSS (Main Oval), Jinja College (two venues), Busoga College Mwiri, Kakira SS, and Kiira PS.

“The Cricket Week continues to fulfill its long-standing mission of providing a platform for young talent to shine. This year’s edition arrives at a significant moment, with our National men’s team fresh from the T20 World Cup and the U19 team having a stellar international season.

There’s no better time for these youngsters to step up and make their mark.

Jinja is ready to welcome both talent and fans,”

said Isaac Imaka, Founder of East Enders.

Defending champions Jinja SS will face stiff competition from 19-time winners Busoga College Mwiri and two-time finalists Nyakasura School.

Soroti Secondary School, Horizon International School, and Shree Sahajanand School Uganda will make their tournament debuts.

“This year’s event promises to be exceptional, offering numerous opportunities for all participants.

The Boys’ Cricket Week will be a celebration of talent and sportsmanship.

We are grateful for Sky View’s continued support in nurturing talent, and we’re confident they’ll see great value in their sponsorship.

We invite everyone to join us in Jinja City to witness extraordinary skills and create unforgettable memories.

May the best team prevail and inspire us all,”

said Davis Turinawe, UCA Development Manager.

The tournament, sponsored by Harris International through their Sky View brand for the second consecutive year, kicks off on Sunday, August 25th, and concludes with the final on Saturday, August 31st, at Jinja SS.
