Uganda’s Jacob Kiplimo is set to headline the e-Dreams Mitja Marató Barcelona by Brooks in Spain this Sunday, February 16th.
He will be aiming at a fast finish amidst preparations for his marathon debut in London this April.
Kiplimo, 24, holds the second-fastest half marathon time in history, his 57:31 in Lisbon back in 2021 was the fastest across the distance until Ethiopia’s Yomif Kejelcha broke it last year.
His most recent competition at the San Silvestre Vallecana in Madrid on New Year’s Eve saw him share the top spot with Berihu Aregawi, setting a course record of 26:32.
Perhaps a signal that he is in great shape for another standout performance in Barcelona.
While Kiplimo might be a rightful favorite, the race will also feature strong contenders, including Kenya’s Geoffrey Kamworor, a three-time world half marathon champion with a personal best of 58:01.
In the mix is Samwel Mailu, the world half marathon bronze medallist, and Ronce Konga, who boasts a PB of 59:08.
