Inaugural crowning SFA refereeing course event to be graced by Squash Federation of Africa President

With this being preserved as a Squash event week, the 2024 Kampala Club Squash championship that was officially launched on Monday, 1st June at the Kampala Club Centre Court.

Having this tournament swings off on Tuesday, 2nd June and climaxing on Saturday, 6th June 2024 all this was taking place at the same time with the first ever Squash Federation of Africa refereeing course.

Michael Raymond Kawooya, one of the top seeded players in the championship.

Despite this being the first to be staged in East Africa the greatest of knowledge was that Dr Mlilo in charge as the main instructor and is set to award the successful referees.

John Bosco Tamwesigire, the President of the Uganda Squash Rackets Association (USRA) was so glad and humbled for the support from the National Council of Sports (NCS) for meeting the costs of the tournament and the refereeing course;

“We are grateful for the support from NCS towards the running of the Kampala club championship and SFA refereeing course” he said

The total prize money of Ug.Shs 5,000,000 will lift up the competitive spirit among spirit.

“We are humbled to host the refereeing course as Uganda, the first in the East African region” Tamwesigire concluded.

Dr Lucky Mlilo who will conduct the refereeing course on his first ever visit to Uganda and the entire East African region

“The biggest high point for the sport as being admitted to the Olympics menu” he cited

Adding that; “Effective 2028 in Los Angeles city, United States of America (USA) the sport will be on the menu”

“Squash in Africa is developing at a high rate and I have conducted different courses in Egypt, Botswana and Nigeria.”

“With this being my first time in East Africa, I hope we can successful days” Dr Mlilo stated.

Outstanding players from the quarter finals will have a share of the total prize money for Ug.Shs 5,000,000.
