FUFA Big League: Mbarara set to kick start their campaign against Booma FC

A few days after introducing their 30 man squad to take them through the 2022/23 FUFA Big League campaign, Mbarara City will be back in action on Friday as they host Booma FC at Kakyeka Stadium.

The main aim of this Mbarara side is to get back to Uganda Premier League next season after they were relegated to Big League after finishing 15th last season with 25 points.

The Ankole Lions have been playing in the Uganda Premier League for five seasons and because of relegation, they had to let go of a couple of players most notably being the bunch that left for SC Villa with shot stopper Martin Elungat, Pistis Barenge being among the names as they get used to life in the Big League.

However they have also signed players during the summer like Jungu Methodius, Hakim Magombe, Ibrahim Tembo, Lawrence Ndugga, Jamir Kisitu Nvule and Med Kyeyune with some other deciding to keep with the team after a disappointing 2021/22 top flight campaign.

On the other side Booma FC, just like Mbarara City have just joined the FUFA Big League having been promoted after winning the Kitara Regional League playoffs final against Rwenzori Lions.

Like any other team during the summer 2021/22 Uganda Cup semi-finalists have strengthened their squad signing fourteen players Kimuli Gerald, Malish Jamal, Doodi IsmailΒ  and Arnold Sserunjogi among the names

Calvary will host new comers NEC FC in Midigo,Β  Lugazi Football Club will visit Police FC at Kavumba Recreation Ground.
