The 2025/26 StarTimes Uganda Premier League season heads into a decisive week with the championship race, relegation battle and continental qualification spots all still hanging in the balance.

With only two matchdays left to play, Tuesday’s penultimate round could shape the destiny of several clubs across the country.

League leaders Vipers remain favourites to lift the title but face mounting pressure ahead of their tricky away clash against Maroons at Mutesa II Stadium, Wankulukuku.

The Venoms sit top of the table with 61 points and know victory would move them within touching distance of another league crown. However, the defending champions come into the match struggling for form, having managed just two wins in their last 10 matches in all competitions. Their frustrations were further compounded after their Uganda Cup campaign ended on Friday.

A slip-up for Vipers could hand fresh hope to second-placed KCCA, who trail by three points ahead of their encounter with URA at Hamz Stadium, Nakivubo.

The Kasasiro Boys have quietly kept pace in the title race and will need maximum points against the Tax Collectors to keep pressure on the leaders heading into the final day.

Despite sitting six points behind Vipers, reigning champions SC Villa are also still mathematically in the race for the title.

The Jogoos can retain their crown if they win their remaining two matches and both Vipers and KCCA lose all their remaining fixtures. SC Villa return to action on Wednesday with a difficult away tie against NEC at Lugogo, knowing defeat would end their slim hopes.

At the bottom of the table, survival fears continue to grow for Calvary ahead of a crucial relegation showdown against UPDF in Bombo.

UPDF are four points above the drop zone on 21 points and need only avoid defeat to guarantee safety with one game remaining. For Calvary, however, only victory will keep their hopes of staying in the top flight alive.

Elsewhere, Police host Entebbe UPPC at Kavumba, BUL entertain Uganda Cup finalists Kitara in Njeru, Mbarara City welcome Buhimba United Saints, while Express face Lugazi in the late kickoff.
