She Cranes Head coach Fred Mugerwa has said his team did not play out to their expectations at the 2021 Africa Netball Championship in Windhoek, Namibia.
This is after they finished second on the 9-team Championship log behind winners South Africa.
They climaxed their journey with a 44-44 draw with Malawi(who finished third) at the Wanderer Sports Arena.
But despite losing only one game to Africa’s top-placed and championship winners South Africa, Mugerwa claims that his side didn’t play to his expectations.
“We didn’t play to our expectations because they were some critical mistakes we were making as a team throughout the tournament. These few blunders hindered us alot in this tournament” The She Cranes said after the game against Malawi.
Mugerwa has gone ahead to comment about why his team drew with Malawi
” For me it wouldn’t have gone that way because we were a better team but still the inconsistency of the Umpires has let us down as it has been for most of the tournament ”
Mugerwa promises that his side is going to work on some of the errors they did in the tournament so as to be able to match their opponents in the upcoming tournaments.
South Africa were crowned as champions of the 2021 Africa Netball championship after winning all their eight games played, defeating Namibia 65-39 in their last game.
