Kampala Queens secured a crucial 2-0 victory over Makerere University WFC at Phillip Omondi Stadium in Lugogo on Saturday morning extending their lead at the top of the table.
This victory marked a significant achievement for the Queens, as they had previously struggled against Makerere, winning only once in their past encounters.
The match kicked off with both teams showing high intensity, searching for an early breakthrough.
Forward, Anitah Namata, had several chances but was unable to convert but Captain Shamirah Nalugya managed to break the dead lock five minutes past the half hour mark after capitalizing on a perfect delivery from Sumaya Komuntale, putting the Queens ahead 1-0 before halftime.

In the second half, goalkeeper Daisy Nakaziro several times, delivered a series of crucial saves after unending attacks from the visitors.
There-after in the 68th minute, Peace Muduwa’s brilliant dribbling set up a curling ball that unexpectedly found the back of the net, securing the 2-0 win for the table Leaders.
After the game, Kampala Queens’ assistant coach, Sharon Kizza, praised the team’s improved intensity and emphasized the importance of maintaining focus during the league break.
She also highlighted the growth of young player Peace Muduwa, who continues to gain confidence.
For Makerere University’s head coach, Fred Ndawula, he acknowledged the quality of Kampala Queens’ play but credited his players for minimizing the damage.
He also noted Namuleme Zainah’s strong performance, earning her the Woman of the Match award.
This win meant Kampala Queens extend their Lead at the top of the table with 31 points from 13 games.
Makerere University on the other side drops to 8th place with 14 points.
Other games on the day saw; Uganda Martyrs get back to winning ways, securing a crucial 2-0 win against Tooro Queens thanks to goals by Auki Kigongo and Latifah Nakasi.
She Corporate too clinched a point from Soroti’s Olila High School with Jessica Namanda once again registering her name on the scoresheet before Grace Aluka leveled matters.
