FIFA U20 women world cup qualifiers: Mbekeka names final squad for the Tanzania duel

The Uganda U20 women team head coach Olivier Mbekeka released the final 18-women squad that will fly out today to Dar es salaam for the World Cup qualifier match against Tanzania at Chamanzi stadium on Sunday.

Among the 18 players, six are selected from the U17 team that recently lifted the CECAFA U17 girls tournament in December 2019. The U17 captain Juliet Nalukenge and her assistant Fauzia Najjemba, Magret Kunihira, Bira Nadunga, Musibika Stella and goalkeeper Joan Namusisi make the squad.

We are set and very ready for the game. Our target is not just to win but with many goals, because this being a two-legged affair we need to score as many goals as possible that may be helpful going into the second leg.

Said Olivier Mbekeka after releasing the squad.

I know our opponents are not easy but we shall do our best to secure a good result.

She added.

The Uganda U20 women team is to play Tanzania in a two-legged match the first game coming this Sunday, 19th January and the return leg on 1st February at the Startimes stadium Lugogo.
The winner from both games will play the winner between Senegal and Sierra Leon in the second round of the qualifiers.
