Jimmy Enabu and City Oilers are the 7 times NBL defending champions after humbling UCU Canons 72-57 in game 7 of the 2019 FUBA NBL championship.
After an incredible and exciting seven game series against Nick Natuhereza’s Canons, the Oilers stand alone on the moutain top as the best team in NBL history.
The Canons crowd was hyped up during intros and during the opening half of the series final game. But by the end of the third quarter, the Canons had fallen behind by 8 points yet again. With Every Canons push thereafter, the Oilers responded in turn.Every big shot David Kongor Deng hit was answered with a similary big strike from City Oilers.
David Kongor Deng finished the first half with a monster layup to get the Canons within 1, 26-27, and the Canons tied scores 29-29 after an early David Kongor Deng 3pt jump shot. But as the third quarter progressed, the Oilers were just too much.James Okello smashed home 7 points in 8 minutes in the third to give the Oilers a 49-41 lead going into fourth quarter.
The fourth belonged to Tony Drileba, Landry Ndikumana and Jimmy Enabu. As James Okello struggled, the trio dazzled past the Canons defences and made them look silly several occasions.
Landry Ndikumana scored a game high 26 points and coupled it up with 11 rebounds, Jimmy Enabu had 16 points and 4 rebounds while James Okello messed up with a double-double (14 points and 17 rebounds)
