Uganda Cranes attacker Emmanuel Okwi says qualifying to the third consecutive AFCON finals would be great for the nation.
The Cranes plays Burkina Faso in a crucial 2021 AFCON qualifier tie this Wednesday at the St. Mary’s Stadium, Kitende knowing that a win could seal their qualification to next year’s African major football tourney in Cameroon.
“This is a very massive game, it’s a huge game for everyone in the country ” Emmanuel Okwi said in a pre match conference on Tuesday morning before adding.
“I have been very lucky to be among team that qualified for the last two editions but the spirit and fight you have to put up to qualify is always the same.”
“it’s never easy to qualify but we need to fight so hard to ensure we go back to the finals because it will be very good for us as a nation to have that continuation if we can qualify for the third time in a row”
The Cranes sit second in group B with 7 points , one behind leaders Burkina Faso with Malawi and South Sudan having 4 and 3 points respectively.
The Cranes and Stallions played out to a goalless stalemate in Ouagadougou in the first game of group B.
