Alex Emmanuel Wasswa netted a hatrick in the sand cranes’ 6-5 win over Malawi on boxing day as Uganda settled for the second place finnish at the 2019 Copa-Dar es salaam tournament.
Rwoch Somoka, Godfrey Lwesibawa and Douglas Muganga also registered their names on the score sheet each with a goal.
Malawi’s goals came from Sandam Saidi, James Chikoka, Vanacio Malunga and a brace from Isaac Kajamu.

Meddie Kibirige the skipper for Uganda was recognized as the Best goalkeeper of the tournament.
Tanzania emerged overall winner for the third consecutive time after toping the table in a round robin format and walked away with gold medals.
Uganda’s second place finish handed them silver medals for the second time consecutively while Burundi were honored with bronze medals.
Our main objective was to win this year’s championship though it slid off our hands and we finished runners up’
