The Atlas Lions of Morocco thumped the hosts, Cameroon 4-0 to reach the final of the 2021 CHAN tournament as they look to defend the title they won in 2018. Mali knocked their West African rivals of Guinea 5-4 in spot kicks after playing out to a goalless draw.
In a game played at the Limbe Stadium, the hosts, Cameroon were dominated as early as the first stanza of the game by the Moroccans despite having the home advantage and the fans behind them
Defender Soufiane Bouftini broke the deadlock for the Atlas lions before Soufiane Rahimi’s brace put Morocco into a comfortable lead with almost twenty minutes to the death.Mohammed Ali Bemammer wrapped up the scoring for Morocco as they thrashed Cameroon.
Earlier on in the day, Mali progressed to second CHAN final after shooting out Guinea 5-4 on penalties after a goal-less statement after Extra time.
Guinea’s Morlaye Sylla failed to covert the all important spot kick to sorrowfully eliminate his side at Semi-finals stages.
In this same game, Video Assistant Referee (VAR) cancelled out Yakhouba Barry’s goal in 27th minute, denying Guinea a first half lead.
Mali who were runner ups in 2016 will face the defending champions Morocco in the final game this Sunday.
While the third-placed match will have Cameroon tussling it out with Guinea
