CAF Zonal WCLQ: Semifinal line-up complete

She Corporate Football Club, As Kigali Women, Commercial Bank Football Club of Ethiopia and Simba Queens qualified for the semifinals of the CAF Women Champions League CECAFA Qualifiers, after the final round of group matches played on Saturday, 20th August, 2022, at the Azam Complex.

The semifinal games of the second edition of this tournament will take place on Wednesday 24th August 2022 starting from 1pm and 4pm respectively at National Stadium.

The She Corporate Football Club from Uganda will take on the CBE Football Club of Ethiopia which will be the first game of the semifinal and Simba Queens will take on AS Kigali at the National Stadium.

CBE Football Club are yet to lose a game at the ongoing tournament collecting maximum points and scoring 16 goals and only conceded 1 in the group stage unlike She Corporate Football who managed to collect 6 points from the 3 games winning two and losing once.

Simba Queens are the only team who have not yet conceded a goal at the tournament keeping three clean sheets and scoring twelve times.

All the semifinal teams apart from AS Kigali had excellent performances in the last games of the group stages played on Saturday and Sunday respectively.

In Group A, CBE Football Club overcame AS Kigali of Rwanda with a 2-0 final score while Warriors Queens were thrashed by Fofila PF 3-0 in the other. In Group B Garde Republicane of Djibouti were dismantled by She Corporate of Uganda as Simba Queens were also sealing a top finish with a 4-0 scoreline against South Sudanese Yei Joint Stars.

CBE Football Club finished on top of group A  with 9 points just like the previous ingurual campaign while Simba Queens Football Club finished top of the other (group B) with maximum points as well.

Phiona Nabbumba

The She Corporate Football Club midfeilder has played well at her maiden tournament scoring a couple goals in all of the games her latest being the hat trick against Garde Republicane in the last game making it 5 goals in her first 3 games.

Loza Abera

The CBE forward is playing in her second qualifier tournament and She has scored in every game she has played so far in this edition. She’s got quick feet and good at heading balls in the air something that she has just improved compared to the previous edition. With experience and 9 goals so far, she’s considered a threat at this stage.

Opa Clement

Clement running to close down She Corporate’s Margret Namirimu

This is a player that is well known around the region being a top scorer at the previous 2022 CECAFA Senior Women Championship with Tanzania in Njeru, Uganda. This time round she features for the Simba Queens and has scored only once so far. Eyes would be put on the team’s top scorers so far like Pambani Kuzoya, Asha Djafar and Olaiya but Opa Clement looks to have magical presence around the box.

Usanase Zawadi

A player with a goal scorer’s with 5 goals to her including that hattrick against Warrior Queens, the AS Kigali forward who has great technique will look to add to her goal tally at this stage so that she can help her team.
