In Der Klassiker against Borussia Dortmund, Bayern’s tactical formation changed profoundly when switching from defence to attack. When Dortmund had possession of the ball, Bayern lined up in a back four formation including Davies on the left side. As soon as Bayern won the ball, he moved forward and positioned himself in the attacking line to be able to cross the ball from the left. FC Bayern head coach Julian Nagelsmann thus ensured that there was an extra player in the opponent’s half when Bayern had possession of the ball – a tactical trick that contributed to their win.
