Uganda Premier League CEO Bernard Bainamani Bampaire has revealed that last season’s league winners Vipers’ trophy and player medals are ready to be picked from the Uganda Premier League Secretariat in Mengo.
Vipers were prematurely declared champions of the 2019/20 StarTimes Uganda Premier League champions with five games to play after the league and all football-related activities in the country were halted by the Coronavirus pandemic.
Since then, there has been growing concern on when the venoms would be awarded their title and winners medals.
Bainamani says the club can arrange to have its trophy and medals picked up.
“Vipers trophy and medal are ready here,” Bernard Bainamani told The Touchline Sports when asked before adding;
“The CEO of the club can arrange to pick the trophy and medals from the UPL Secretariat, but crowning them now is really time barred and meaningless since we are now seven Matchdays into a new season.”
Vipers were declared champions after they were top of the log by the time the league was prematurely ended with 54 points garnered in 25 games, four ahead of second placed KCCA FC.
