The Uganda U20 national football team dubbed Uganda Hippos has beaten Senegal 1-0 at the Accra Sports Stadium to qualify for the semi finals.
Allan Oyirworth scored the only goal for the Hippos capitalizing on a rebound from his saved penalty in the 27th minute.
The penalty resulted from a push on KCCA’s winger, Arafat Usama in the penalty area.
One minute to the halftime stoppage whistle,coach Morley Byekwaso had to make a forced substitute to bring in Apollo Kagogwe to replace the injured Haruna Lukwago.
Uganda sits at the top of the group with six points out of the two games played after winning Nigeria 2-1 in the first game on Thursday last week.
Morley Byekwaso’s boys will play South Sudan in their last fixture. Uganda is in a group having South Sudan, Nigeria and Senegal.
This will be the first time Uganda is participating in the semi finals of the tournament since 1999 in South Africa.
