The Confederation of Africa Football (CAF) has confirmed the appointment of the referee to handle the 2021 AFCON Qualifiers tie between Uganda and Burkina Faso.
The said match which is scheduled for 24th March, 2021 at St.Mary’s Stadium, Kitende will be handled by Gambia’s Bakary Papa Gassama and will be assisted by his counterparts, Abdul Aziz Bollel Jawo and Solayman Sosseh as the first and second assistants.
Maudo Jallow, also from Gambia will be the 4th official while Jean Didier Masamba Malunga from DR Congo will be the game’s match commissioner. Ugandan James Ssekajugo will be the Covid-19 regulations officer.
Gassama is an experienced referee who has featured at both the Olympics and world cup tournaments over his career that spans over 15 years.
Uganda sit second in group B with 7 points in four games played so far and will need a win against the current log leaders Burkina Faso (8) to enlight their chance of the finals in Cameroon early next year.
