World Cup qualifiers: Uganda Women’s Cricket team summoned

The Uganda Cricket Association has summoned 24 ladies to start preparations for the 2021 Global World Cup qualifiers.

The qualifiers will take place in Botswana from 7th-20th September in Gaborone.

The matches will be played as Women’s Twenty20 Internationals (WT20Is), with the top team progressing to the 2022 ICC Women’s World Twenty20 Qualifier tournament.

After taking a mandatory COVID-19 test, the summoned team started training on Wednesday at the Lugogo Cricket Oval.

In order to follow the standard operating procedure set up by the Government of Uganda,  the squad has been into four groups and sessions are conducted by head coach Suraj Karavadra.

Uganda will battle out with Botswana, Cameroon, Namibia, Nigeria, Malawi, Mozambique, Rwanda, Sierra Leone, Tanzania and Zimbabwe for the prestigious African crown.
