Seventh (7th) Edition of the City Tyres Badminton Challenge was shuttled off at the Lugogo Indoor Arena on Thursday 17th October 2024 morning.

This year’s tournament has attracted 1250 shuttlers unlike last year’s 6th Edition which held 800.
City Tyres Chief Marketing manager Herbert Bashasha vowed that his team will be back to defend their Corporate trophy;
“As City Tyres We are the major sponsors of the tournament, fully covered everything 100% and have supported Badminton for the last 7 years” Bashasha started
“We are proud to say that we have seen the sport grow from the schools upto National level so as a whole we are going to continue supporting the sport ”
“We have our team in there, last season as City Tyres we won the Corporates trophy and looking to defending it” he concluded
The aim like it’s always been is to identify talents in the region and unite through socializing.
Uganda Badminton Association (UBA) CEO Simon Mugabi Labeled this 7th Edition as one to socialize more;

“Everyone wants to win a trophy but away from the winning beat and aim of identifying talent, we would like all the athletes to socialize” he started
“Since the tournament creation, it has rested only once during Covid but here it is again in the 7 Edition” he added
“It will hold schools, Universities, Corporates and Expatriates all from the East African region and we expect to see different exceptional talent.”
To note, this tournament will see the Professionals get some good cash prize on top of get trophies.
In both Men’s and Women’s Singles winners will get 800,000/= and Runners up 500,000/= while the Mixed Doubles, Men’s Doubles and Women’s Doubles will see each winner and Runners Up attract 300,000/=(600,000/= a pair) and 200,000/=(400,000/= a pair) respectively.
Semi-finalists in both Men’s and Women’s Singles will get 300,000/= and 100,000/= on the Doubles bit.
The action will climax on Sunday 20th October 2024 at the Lugogo Indoor Arena.
