Wakiso based Uganda Premier League side Wakiso Giants has on Friday afternoon announced Sports betting company 1XBet as their new official shirt sponsor.
This was made official on Friday at Kati Kati Restaurant in Kampala in a ceremony that was attended by the Wakiso Giants and 1XBET officials.
1XBet will replace Ward Wizard as the purple sharks shirt sponsor starting at the start of 2022/23 season.
The deal is worthy sixty five thousand US dollars(UGX 235M), 35million more than than Ward Wizard’s sponsorship.
The betting company has formerly sponsored fellow Uganda Premier League side, Tooro United Football Club and Uganda Women NBL Basketball side, A1 Challenge.
This unveiling comes at a time when the Purple Sharks are trying to recover from a financial crisis that hit all the Uganda Premier League sides in the pandemic times.
Wakiso Giants has blown hot and cold this season, something that has led to the circulating rumors of firing their head coach Alex Gitta.
This season, Wakiso Giants sits 8th on the log with 36 points after 28 matches they have won just 11 of their games and failed to progress further in the Stanbic Uganda Cup.
