Uganda’s league champions Vipers SC will discover their opponent in the Preliminary Round of the 2025/26 TotalEnergies CAF Champions League on Saturday, 09 August, as the official draw takes place in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.
The event, being held in Tanzania for the first time ever, highlights East Africa’s rising profile in African football. The draw will be conducted at 13:00 local time (10:00 GMT) and will be streamed live on CAF’s YouTube channel and broadcast by CAF’s international partners.
Azam Media, CAF’s regional broadcast partner, will host the draw in its studios, building on past successes of similar productions held at SuperSport and beIN Sports.
Vipers SC will be making their fourth appearance in the CAF Champions League. Their previous campaigns have had mixed results:
- 2016: Eliminated in the Preliminary Round by Nigeria’s Enyimba FC.
- 2018/19: Fell short in the First Round, losing to CS Constantine of Algeria.
- 2022/23: Made history by reaching the Group Stage for the first time, drawn alongside Raja Casablanca (Morocco), Horoya AC (Guinea), and Simba SC (Tanzania), but finished bottom of the group.
After the experience of competing against continental heavyweights, Vipers will be hoping to build on that exposure and make a deeper run this time.
The Preliminary Round will kick off on 19 September 2025, followed by the Second Round on 17 October 2025. The Group Stage begins on 21 November 2025, with the knockout phase scheduled to start on 13 March 2026.
