Vipers SC have taken a significant step toward securing a domestic double after reaching their fourth Stanbic Uganda Cup final in five years.

The reigning Uganda Premier League champions edged past defending champions Kitara FC 1-0 in the second leg of their semifinal clash at Butema Royal Park on Saturday, sealing a 2-0 aggregate victory.

With the league title already secured, Vipers are now one win away from repeating their 2022/23 feat and cementing their status as one of Uganda’s modern football powerhouses.

The Venoms will now await the winner between KCCA FC and Kataka FC, with KCCA holding a commanding 3-0 lead ahead of Sunday’s return leg in Mbale.

This year’s final is scheduled for Saturday, May 31, under the floodlights at FUFA Kadiba Stadium.

If Vipers succeed, they’ll join an elite list of clubs that have achieved the domestic double, including SC Villa, Express FC, and KCCA FC. Co-head coaches John Ayala Luyinda and Fred Muhumuza are also on the brink of entering coaching folklore, potentially joining the ranks of legendary tacticians like Mike Mutebi and Milutin ‘Micho’ Sredojevic who have guided their clubs to cup doubles.
