Uganda Premier League champions Vipers SC have discovered their path to the Group Stage of the 2025/26 TotalEnergies CAF Champions League following Saturday’s preliminary round draw held in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.
The Venoms will face Namibia’s African Stars in the First Preliminary Round. Should they advance, they will meet the winner between Power Dynamos of Zambia and ASEC Mimosas of Côte d’Ivoire in the Second Preliminary Round.
In the first leg of the First Preliminary Round, scheduled for 19–21 September 2025, Vipers will play away before hosting the return leg at St Mary’s Stadium, Kitende between 26–28 September.
If they progress, Vipers will host the first leg of the Second Preliminary Round between 17–19 October, before traveling for the return leg between 24–26 October.
This will be Vipers’ fourth appearance in the CAF Champions League. Their previous campaigns have produced mixed results:
- 2016 – Eliminated in the Preliminary Round by Nigeria’s Enyimba FC.
- 2018/19 – Knocked out in the First Round by Algeria’s CS Constantine.
- 2022/23 – Made history by reaching the Group Stage for the first time, facing Raja Casablanca (Morocco), Horoya AC (Guinea), and Simba SC (Tanzania), but finished bottom of the group.
Vipers will be hoping to draw from that experience as they aim to secure back-to-back group stage appearances and make a deeper run in this year’s competition.
