Åland United has bolstered their attacking options with the signing of 28-year-old Ugandan forward Violah Nambi.

The talented striker joins the Finnish side after parting ways with Italian club Napoli on mutual terms in January 2025.

Known for her speed, strength, and tireless work ethic, Nambi brings a wealth of experience to Åland United, having previously played in Sweden’s Damallsvenskan and Italy’s Serie A.

Daniel Norrmén, head coach of Åland United, couldn’t be more pleased with the addition of Nambi to the squad. Speaking about the signing, Norrmén emphasized her qualities and what she brings to the team.

“We have been looking for a forward with certain qualities for a long time, and the fact that Violah has now signed is very exciting because she perfectly matches what we were looking for,” Norrmén said.

“Violah is fast, strong in deep runs, enjoys challenging opponents, and works tirelessly for the team. Additionally, having played several years in Damallsvenskan and Serie A highlights what a skilled player we have brought to Åland United.”

Nambi’s extensive experience at top European clubs, including her stints at Pomigliano and Napoli in Italy, makes her a valuable asset for Åland United.

Her attacking versatility and prowess make her a standout addition to the squad, and her presence is expected to significantly enhance the team’s offensive capabilities.

The Ugandan international, who is also a key player for her national team, expressed her excitement about the move and her anticipation of the challenges ahead.

“I’m so excited to join Åland United and be part of the journey,” Nambi said. “I’m looking forward to achieving the club’s goals and writing history together. It’s my first time playing in Finland, and I can’t wait to start. See you soon.”

Nambi’s arrival is a significant milestone for Åland United, strengthening their attacking options as they set their sights on further success in Finland’s top tier.

With her impressive skill set and pedigree, Nambi is poised to make a major impact and solidify her place as one of Uganda’s brightest footballing exports.
