Uganda’s national women’s cricket team, the Victoria Pearls, delivered a thrilling comeback to level the six-match Capricorn Series 3-3 against hosts Namibia, sharing the trophy after an intense final showdown.
The Pearls began the tournament on a high, clinching back-to-back wins.
In the opener, they edged Namibia by just two runs in a tense finish at the High Performance Oval.
Their momentum carried into the second game, where they secured a narrow five-run victory, showcasing resilience and composure under pressure.
However, fortunes shifted in the third match as the Pearls fell to a 23-run defeat.
Despite winning the toss and opting to bowl, Uganda couldn’t contain Namibia’s batting lineup.
Changes to the playing XI saw Irene Mutoni and Sarah Walaza come in, but the adjustments weren’t enough to halt Namibia’s charge.
Namibia built on that momentum, winning the fourth match by 21 runs to level the series 2-2.
The fifth encounter was the most dramatic yet—Namibia snatched a one-run win, taking a 3–2 lead and putting Uganda under pressure heading into the final match.
With the series on the line, Uganda bounced back strongly in the sixth and final game.
After choosing to bowl, they made one change, bringing in seamer Sarah Walaza.
Early breakthroughs from captain Janet Mbabazi had Namibia at 33/2 after six overs, but a resilient effort from Kayleen Green (48) and Yasmeen Khan (35) lifted Namibia to a daunting 139/4—the tournament’s highest total.
Uganda’s chase stumbled early, but a crucial 69-run partnership between Rita Musamali (40) and Stephanie Nampiina (39) revived the innings.
Needing 12 off the final over, Uganda capitalized on fielding errors—including costly overthrows—to secure a last-ball five-wicket win.
Nampiina was named Player of the Match for her composed knock and finishing skills.

Reflecting on the victory, Nampiina said,
“We just needed to stay calm, rotate strike, and pick boundaries where possible. I’m happy I could win it for the team.”
Captain Janet Mbabazi added,
“The girls gave it their all.
I’m proud of how we expressed ourselves. Thanks to the fans for the continued support.”
With the series ending 3-3, both teams walked away with the Capricorn Series trophy—fitting recognition after a fiercely contested battle.
