UPL: UPDF edge Mbarara City to continue impressive home form

UPDF continued their impressive form at home with with 2-1 win over Mbarara City at the Military grounds in Bombo on Wednesday evening.

Despite coming into the game with a heavy loss away to SC Villa the Paul Kiwanuka’s charges managed to generate extensive energy to put out a great first half which helped them clinch the win.

Frank Gladison Mugisa netted the opener 17 minutes into the game before veteran defender Bernard Muwanga double the hosts lead to close the half 2-0.

In the second stanza, just four minutes past the hour mark, Mbarara’s Henry Kitegenyi managed to pull one back which later turned out to be a consolation for the visitors after the game ending 2-1.

This result took the Army side to 4th with 12 points, one above reigning champion SC Villa while the Ankole Lions of Mbarara stay in 10th with 9.

The next fixtures will be played after the international break and we set to see UPDF take a short trip to Kitara on 22nd November as Mbarara host Mbale Heroes on the same day.

In the other game of the day, Lugazi collected their 7th point in three games after drawing goalless with hosts Wakiso Giants at the Kabaka Gyabaggu stadium in Wakiso.
