NEC suffered their first defeat of the campaign to Express at the Hamz Stadium, Nakivubo on Thursday evening.
The Die-hards lost 1-2 with Express’ goals coming in the first half from Geoffrey Gagganga and Ronald Andabati.
Cromwell Rwothomio netted NEC’s lone goal goal only to act as aconsolation in the second half.
Former CATIDA and University Football League MVP with UCU, Gagganga netted as early as the fifth minute after a good drive by Basangwa and mistake by Kelvin Barni to offer the forward arces of space to place the ball in the bottom right.

Five minutes later, Andabati doubled the Red Eagles’ tally after a clear brilliant assist by new signing Richard Basangwa who drove the ball past two defenders on the right to lay it on the plate.
At the hour mark, Rwothomio pulled one back for the visitors after a poor throw in which lead to a 50/50 situation won by James Jarieko to move ball forward for Enoch Ssebagala to set up the efficient striker to net his second of the season.
However the hosts managed to hold on for a 2-1 victory that takes them to 5th place on the League Log with 7 points in Four games.
For NEC, despite suffering a defeat they stay in second with 9 points in Four games.
In their next games,Express will pay courtsey visit to Police in Kavumba on October 16 while NEC will host Maroons at Lugogo on October 19.
In the other game of the day, Kitara FC lost their third straight game of the season 1-0 to Police through a Augustine Kacancu which was netted the 28th minute.
