NEC FC edged SC Villa at MTN-Omondi Stadium in Lugogo on Friday evening to go top of the table.
Paul Mucureezi and Cromwell Rwothomio scored the crucial goals for NEC FC while Hakim Kiwanuka netted Villa’s consolation.
After ending the first half goaless both sides came back in the second with an urge to score at least a goal.
Mucureezi opened the scoring with a stunning strike outside the box, ten minutes after restart with an assist from Enock Ssebagala.
Eleven minutes past the hour mark, Hakim Kiwanuka leveled matters for the visitors, after receiving a good ball over the backline inside the box from substitute Elvis Ngonde.
With four minutes left to the 90 mark, Rwothomio put the hosts ahead again after SC Villa failed to clear their line only for NEC striker to hit it on the half volley.
The win for NEC FC keeps them unbeaten at home and on the other-side, SC Villa remain winless away from home this season.
NEC re-claim top spot on the League table with 22 points whereas Villa stay 5th on 14 points.
In their next games, NEC will visit URA FC on Thursday 5th December as SC Villa host Lugazi at Wankulukuku the following day.
For Maroons FC, they drew goalless with BUL FC at the Luzira Prison Grounds in the other game.
