UPL: Mwebaze marks Mbale Heroes return with stalemate against Lugazi

Asaph Mwebaze’s return to Mbale Heroes kicked off with 1-1 stalemate away at Lugazi FC in Najjembe on Wednesday evening.

Despite poor start to the 2024/25 campaign in the top flight Mbale side saw it as a non- negotiable to fire Richard Malinga and  bring back Mwebaze.

His first game back kicked off on a good note Gideon Etou handing the visitors just ten (10) minutes into the game after a Paul Kaggwa cross for Cosai Wasswa who directed his header to Lugazi shot stopper Juma Mutebi.

However Mutebi saved the header putting it in the path of Etou who scored from the rebound.

With ten (10) minutes left on the opening half, Lugazi scored their first goal of campaign to level matters through a Derrick Mwanje header after short corner by Abdul Kalanzi.

The draw lifts Mbale Heroes to 12th on Log with 4 points while Lugazi stay bottom with 2 points.

In their next games, Mbale Heroes will host KCCA on 26th October after Lugazi visit Express on 22nd October.
