Uganda Premier League
- Maroons 1-0 Mbale Heroes
- Police 0-0 KCCA
Former Express FC forward Ivan Mayanja scored Maroons only goal to keep an edge on Mbale Heroes at the Luzira Prison Grounds.
In a game played on Thursday Evening, Mayanja netted ten (10) minutes into the opening half when Ivan Asaba capitalized on a miscommunication, leading to a penalty after he was brought down.
This was a chance for Mayanja to step up as he calmly converted from the spot to give the Prison men the lead.
With Maroons dominating the First half, they got multiple chances thanks to their press on the visitors but Baiden Ogama, Felix Okot and an Asaba penalty all failed to put the game to bed.
In the second half, Jackson Nunda returned to action, injecting fresh energy into the attack but nothing yielded a goal.
The visitors got a visible chance in the game with 20 minutes left on the clock with an attempt to equalize but their goal was disallowed for offside.
The result takes Maroons to 5th with 22 points while it leaves Mbale Heroes in bottom with 9 points, level with Bright Stars but worse goal difference of -18.
In their next games, Maroons will visit Vipers in Kitende on 7th January whereas Mbale Heroes two days will host NEC.
The other game at the same time saw Police FC attain their 9th season draw as they kept KCCA quiet all evening in Kavumba.
