Uganda Premier League
- Kitara 4-0 KCCA
- Maroons 1-0 Express
- Mbale Heroes 0-1 Wakiso Giants
On a breezy Saturday afternoon at the Royal Park Stadium in Hoima, Kitara FC served up one of the most electrifying performances of the Uganda Premier League season, dismantling giants KCCA FC with a ruthless 4-0 victory.
Having lost to KCCA in the first round, Kitara returned with fire in their veins, unleashing a blistering attacking display that left their visitors stunned and scrambling. Goals from Patrick Kaddu, Jude Ssemugabi, David Ndihabwe, and Living Kabon capped off a dominant afternoon and handed Kitara sweet revenge in front of their roaring home crowd.
KCCA actually started on the front foot. They crafted two early chances, with Saidi Mayanja denied by Kitara’s alert goalkeeper Chrispus Kusiima, and Julius Poloto’s shot cleared off the line by Ronald Otti. But for all their early pressure, KCCA lacked the killer touch, something Kitara would show in spades.
In the 21st minute, Patrick Kaddu pounced on a perfect delivery from Living Kabon, putting Kitara in front. It was just the beginning. As KCCA struggled to respond, Kitara pressed harder. Just before halftime, Kaddu beat Fillbert Obenchan and set up Ssemugabi for a calm finish to make it 2-0.
Kitara came out of the break with even more intensity. Within five minutes of the restart, David Ndihabwe rose highest to nod in a third goal from a Kabon corner, again orchestrated by the ever-present Kaddu. KCCA’s João Gabriel came close to grabbing a consolation, but his header drifted just wide.
In the 70th minute, Kaddu again tormented the KCCA backline, beating the goalkeeper on a swift counter before unselfishly squaring to Kabon, who buried the fourth and sealed an unforgettable rout.
The result marks Kitara’s second consecutive win after their previous triumph over Police FC, and it propels them to 5th place on the table with 35 points. KCCA, who were unbeaten in their last four games, now slip to 6th with 34 points.
Kitara will carry this momentum into their next clash against NEC FC on Thursday, April 10 at the MTN Omondi Stadium. KCCA will have to regroup quickly ahead of their showdown with BUL FC on Saturday, April 12, at the same venue, but with much to prove.
Elsewhere Wakiso Giants edged Mbale Heroes 1-0 courtsey of Timothy Oyamo whereas Maroons in a unsurprising manner edged Express by the same scoreline with Boris Onegi netting a stoppage time winner in the 95th minute
