The UPL Fans Meetup (UFM) is gearing up for an exciting and meaningful friendly encounter against Team Yunus Sentamu this Sunday, 16th November, at the Yes Center in Nsambya. This game is more than a simple exhibition match—it’s a chance for fans to interact with one of Uganda’s most celebrated footballers and draw lessons from his remarkable journey.
UFM heads into the fixture with a mixed bag of recent results. They battled to a 2–2 draw with Bapakasi FC, narrowly lost 1–2 to Wakiso Lands, secured a spirited 4–2 victory against FUFA Media Services, before suffering defeats to Felom (2–5) and Mini Football (0–3). Despite the inconsistencies, the atmosphere in camp remains positive.

We need this win for motivation and confidence for more games coming.”
The story of UPM Fans Meetup itself is rooted in passion and unity. What began as an online conversation among Uganda Premier League supporters—mostly banter, reactions, and arguments beyond club rivalries—eventually grew into a community with purpose. The first physical meetup was held on 28th December 2024 at Namaste, organized by former chairperson Shifa Ismail Bayo. That milestone gathering set the tone for a vibrant movement that brings fans together for discussions, events, and activities that celebrate Ugandan football in all its richness.
This weekend’s friendly carries added weight because of the man on the opposite side of the pitch—Yunus Junior Sentamu, affectionately known as “Manucho.”
Sentamu’s football journey is one defined by resilience, raw talent, and what many describe as divine timing. From his humble beginnings playing in the dusty pitches of Kampala to emerging as one of Uganda’s most admired forwards, his rise has been shaped by unwavering determination. Sentamu has showcased his skills far beyond Ugandan borders—featuring for AS Vita in DR Congo, CS Sfaxien in Tunisia, Ilves in Finland, and KF Tirana in Albania. After conquering different football cultures, he later returned to his parent club, Vipers SC, reaffirming his status as a standout figure in Ugandan football.

For UFM, sharing the pitch with a player of Sentamu’s stature is both an honour and an opportunity. It aligns perfectly with one of their core goals—engaging fans with key football stakeholders and giving supporters a chance to learn from individuals who have reached the highest levels of the sport.
