Ugandan international Elio Capradosi has taken a step up in his career, signing with Serie B side AS Cittadella after a four-month stint as a free agent. The 28-year-old defender, who previously played for Serie C club Calcio Lecco 1912, will now look to make an impact in Italy’s second tier.
A Step Forward in Capradosi’s Career
Capradosi’s move to Cittadella is considered an upgrade as he transitions from Serie C to Serie B. He joins the club on a short-term, seven-month contract, with the primary goal of helping Cittadella escape the relegation zone.
After 14 league matches, Cittadella currently sits 19th in the table with 12 points, just two points ahead of bottom-placed Frosinone. Capradosi’s defensive experience will be crucial as the club battles to secure its Serie B survival.
A Well-Traveled Career
Born in Italy to Ugandan parents, Capradosi has spent his entire club career in Italy, featuring for several teams, including AS Roma, Bari, Spezia, Cagliari, and SPAL. His experience at the top levels of Italian football makes him a valuable addition to Cittadella’s backline.
International Career with Uganda
Despite representing Italy’s youth teams, Capradosi later switched allegiance to Uganda at the senior level. He made his Uganda Cranes debut in 2024, featuring in a FIFA World Cup qualifier against Botswana. Since then, he has earned four international caps, becoming a key defensive option for the Cranes.
With his move to Serie B, Capradosi has an opportunity to showcase his skills on a bigger stage, potentially solidifying his place in Uganda’s squad ahead of upcoming international fixtures.
