Federation of Motorsport Uganda (FMU) and SMOC have launched the Gwanga Mujje Fundraising Sprint for Umar Dauda Event at Tarvern Woods in Kabuusu on Wednesday morning.
Dauda who comes from the WID rally team and a former winner of the 2022 Fort Portal rally, co-driven by Steven Bunya would like upgrade himself to a new model of Mitsubishi Lacer Evo X.
During the rally launch, before naming the purpose of the race, Dauda came out to acknowledge all the people who have been there for him starting with his dad;

“I am the reason why everyone is here and would like to thank FMU for giving me this event after the performances have showcased, however also in a special way I would like to recognize the presence of my dad, Mr Umar Dauda senior who introduced me to this sport”
On the side of the car, he added that;
“As we all aware have driven an Evo IV, VI and IX and on 28th I would like to upgrade to Mitsubishi Lacer Evo X”

“Currently we are looking to raise 40,000 USD to pay its balance and get all the other things it will need as a car and get into the road by next year”
“As a driver, I believe am not a bad one so with an Evo X I believe am going to improve more on my performance because with an Evo VI I have been taking more risks than the car it’s self could take.”
The event will start on Saturday 27th July 2024 with Motor Cross and round off on Sunday 28th July at the Garuga track.
Motor Cross will ride off on day one (1) with the first heat while heat two and three will come in on Sunday- day two(2).

“I call upon everyone to come and see what you have never seen, take it that the whole of last year I was training and this is going to be my first race” he said
“Many of you used to watch as a young man but this time round am grown with no fear and I want you to come witness a flying motor bike” he added
For the Rally sprint, which will include 40 riders hopes to start at midday on Sunday and climax by 4pm ending the event by 6pm.
For good preparation, the registration of drivers will stop on Saturday 27th in the afternoon.
