Keneth Kiprop and Charity Cherop both bagged gold in the men and women’s races at the Cardiff Cross Challenge, a World Athletics Cross Country Tour Gold event, held in Cardiff, Wales, on Saturday.
Kiprop successfully defended his title from last year in the senior men’s 9,600m race, outsmarting Kenya’s Vincent Mutai in a thrilling finish. The world U20 5,000m bronze medalist clocked 27:06, edging Mutai by merely a second.
In the women’s 6,400m, another U20 bronze medalist, the 17-year-old Cherop held off a late challenge from Kenya’s Sheila Jebet to triumph in 20:15.

Fellow Ugandan Daniel Kibet secured bronze with a third place in the men’s race with a time of 27:15.
