The Baby Victoria Pearls concluded their five-match T20 training tour against Tanzania Under-19 with a series win of 4:1
All games were held at Lugogo Cricket Oval, with Uganda securing victories in the first three matches before losing the fourth.
On Monday, Uganda won both games, the morning match by 9 runs and the afternoon match by 33 runs.
In the third match, they triumphed by 21 runs but stumbled in the fourth game, losing by 28 runs as they struggled to chase the total.
Uganda’s difficulty in chasing was evident as they ran out of resources in the fourth game.
This series highlighted the importance of improving their chasing strategy.
Tanzania’s captain, Jennipher Gabriel Kimaro, was the standout performer, scoring 45 runs, the highest individual score in the series.
In the final match, Tanzania batted first and scored 92/9 in 20 overs.
Uganda successfully chased the target with six wickets in hand and 20 balls to spare.
Akrut Asumin emerged as the tournament’s top run-scorer with 103 runs, closely followed by Jennipher Gabriel Kimaro with 97 runs.
Asumin also excelled in bowling, taking 8 wickets, tied with Tanzania’s Maria Lucas Massawe, who had the best bowling figures of 3/8.
Uganda’s Nandera Immaculate led in fielding with five catches and two dismissals.
Both team managers expressed their satisfaction with their squads’ performances.
Arun Yadav, the Under-19 coach for Tanzania, mentioned that upon returning to Tanzania, he will know what areas to focus on in the remaining month before the World Cup.

Yusuf Nanga, the Under-19 coach for Uganda, said,
“We’ve seen our team in both chasing and batting first scenarios.
We’ve tested various combinations and understand how to handle different situations.”
Both teams are now preparing for the U-19 World Cup Qualifiers in Kigali, Rwanda, starting on August 19th.
