The Uganda national basketball team tip off their final qualification window to this year’s Afrobasket against group leaders Cape Verde in Tripoli, Libya today.
Uganda lost 78-73 in the reverse fixture played in February and the silverbacks sit third in group B having won against Nigeria and lost against Libya whom they’ll face on Saturday and Sunday consecutively.
Head coach Mandy Juruni will make use of Ishmael Wainright’s return to the side and one of the best players from the February window, Robinson Opongo.
15 out of the 20 teams from this group stage will qualify for the finals in Angola this year’s August so the silverbacks need to at least maintain their current third place to earn their spot.
