The Uganda Tennis Open 2025 is poised to commence from May 10 to 24, promising a showcase of premier tennis talent from Uganda and beyond. As one of the nation’s most prestigious tennis events, the tournament will be held at the Lugogo Tennis Complex and Kampala Club Limited, venues renowned for their ‘interesting’ facilities.
Established in the early 1980s, the Uganda Tennis Open has evolved into a cornerstone of the national and regional tennis calendar. This year’s edition will feature singles and doubles competitions across three categories: juniors, pro event (seniors 18+), and senior veterans. The tournament will be officiated by Charles Wanyama, an International Tennis Federation (ITF) White Badge Referee, ensuring adherence to international standards.
A total prize purse of UGX 20 million has been announced, offering strong incentives for players competing in the pro categories. Among the standout names confirmed for this year’s event are David Oringa, Frank Tayebwa, Patience Athieno, and Winnie Birungi—some of Uganda’s top-ranked players.
The Uganda Tennis Open 2025 is supported by major sponsors including Plascon Uganda, National Council of Sports, Jibu, Ruparelia Foundation, and the International Tennis Federation. Their support underscores the tournament’s significance in promoting tennis in the region.
All interested participants must register by May 8, 2025, at 5:59 PM via the Uganda Tennis Association’s official tournament website: ugandatennis.clubspark.net. With the entry deadline fast approaching, players are encouraged to secure their spots promptly.
