The Uganda Rugby Union has announced postponement of the 2024/25 Uganda Cup, citing player welfare and the need to realign the annual activity calendar as key reasons behind the decision.
According to the union, this postponement follows extensive discussions among the URU Executive Committee, club chairpersons, and other stakeholders, ensuring players’ rest after a demanding season and also have more time plan for a better tournament.
“The decision to postpone was made to prioritize player welfare and align the activity calendar to ensure the smooth running of all events,” said part of the statement by Peter Odong, the union Hon. Secretary.
Originally scheduled to kick off this Saturday, November 23rd, the men’s and women’s group draws were made in October.
According to the union, new tournament dates will be confirmed and announced in due course.
