Uganda opens Netball Africa Cup campaign with a narrow loss

Uganda Women National Netball team, She Cranes lost their opening game at this years’ Netball Africa Cup in Namibia on Monday afternoon.

The Ladies fell short of Zimbabwe by a goal, losing 50:49 at the MTC Dome sports complex in Swakopmund.

She cranes had a good start, finishing the first quarter with a two goal lead at 14:12 with Gloria Aya have a great display on her debut.

However the Zimbabweans managed to close the gap inorder to go into Half time with a lead 25:24 .

The Cranes came back in the 3rd quarter to reclaim a 6 goal lead at 33:39 only for Zimbabwe to boss the final quarter to secure the narrow win.

Uganda will play their Second pool B game against hosts Namibia on Wednesday and last group tie coming in on Thursday against Eswatini  as they fight for the top two places that would ensure qualification into the semi-finals.
