KCCA FC 3-0 Kataka FC – MTN Omondi Stadium, Lugogo

KCCA FC took a giant step towards their hunt for silverware wit an emphatic 3-0 victory over Kataka FC in the Uganda Cup semi-final first leg held at MTN Omondi Stadium, Lugogo.

The Kasasiro Boys put on a dominant display, capitalizing on their home advantage to claim a crucial lead heading into the return leg. Emmanuel Anyama was the star of the evening, scoring a brilliant brace, while Ashraf Mugume added a third to round off a convincing performance.

Despite the final scoreline, it was Kataka who started the brighter side. Their aggressive approach in the early minutes almost paid off, threatening the hosts with a dangerous long throw that forced goalkeeper Mutwalib Mugolofa into an early save.

However, Coach Jackson Magera’s side slowly found their rhythm, growing into the game and creating meaningful chances. Just before the halftime break, KCCA broke the deadlock when Anyama finished off a well-worked move, slotting home a precise pass from Joel Sserunjogi in added time.

Riding on the momentum, KCCA returned from the break with renewed energy. Within five minutes of the restart, Anyama doubled the lead, capping off a quick one-two with Arafat Usama before unleashing a powerful strike that beat Kataka’s Ronald Nsubuga.

As the game progressed, Kataka appeared to run out of steam, unable to match KCCA’s high-intensity play. In the 79th minute, second-half substitutes Yoao Gabriel and Ashraf Mugume combined effectively, with Gabriel delivering a low cross for Mugume to calmly tuck away the third goal.

With this commanding first-leg result, KCCA FC are well positioned to reach the Uganda Cup final as they head into the second leg match to be played in Mbale. They now keep alive their hopes for silverware this season.
