Despite a fall to former Bombers Captain Joshua Tukamuhebwa on the final day of last season, KCCA Boxing Club’s Raskara Paul arose with a splendid performance in Week 5 of the Uganda Boxing Champions League at the NCS Lugogo Arena on Saturday evening.

Raskara who lays in the Light Welter 63.5 kgs managed to beat the resistant Kimera Edward of Kyengera Boxing Club in a Round 2 Referee Stopped contest.

Having had a grand entrance escorted by his fans and dancers that were showcasing more of where Raskara comes from with pots on their head, many in the Arena had singled out Kimera as the favorite a day before.

However it was showtime when the referee decided to start the game, an action that saw both boxers start in the attack but Raskara who has always had his unique quick style didn’t allow Kimera space to throw his hard punches like he always wanted in the first round.

As per the second round with atmost hope that Raskara would be a little tired, the opposite was the answer for Kimera when the KCCA boxer continued as he started hence putting him to the floor.

This brought the Referee into looking critically at Kimera hence determining that he couldn’t continue to send Raskara’s fans into celebrations including the LCV Women Councillor of Nakawa City Ms. Namazzi Olivia K.

This comes after Boxing fans witnessed the fastest Referee Stopped contest which happened in just seconds when Kibira Owen knocked out Bashir Serugo in the Uganda Boxing Champions League Week 3 at the same venue.

Into Week 5’s main fight, Kololo Boxing Club’s Frank Mawanda edged Kyobe Jonathan of Lukanga Boxing Club with a 4:1 split result in the Featherweight Elite 57Kgs.

This fight saw two good friends with close styles battle it out to prove eachother who is better after the time for verbal threats was done.

Despite having majority of fans on his side, the Uganda Boxing Champions League season One weight Champion Kyobe aka Kalawo was made to eat his words with the loss.

Other fights on the day saw Lukanga’s Ssembatya Arafat disqualified after referee stopped fight in Round 5 to send Semugayire John of Katabi Boxing Club into celebrations in the Middle weight 75 kgs contest.

In the Fly weight Youth 51Kgs, Nsubuga Samuel (Kalinabiri BC) on 4:1 split against Nkusa Allawi (Kyengera BC) while Ayebare Charles a Junior from Gideon Boxing Club won by a 5:0 unanimous against Zebra’s Sentamu Yusuf in the Welter Junior 66kgs.

The Uganda Boxing Champions League will return on Saturday 3rd August at a yet unconfirmed venue.
