Winning the toss, Uganda A opted to bat first.
The top order delivered a strong start, with Roger Mukasa leading the charge with 39 runs, supported by Pascal Murungi (31) and Simon Ssesazi (27).
Their efforts propelled Uganda A to 101 runs within the first 10 overs.
However, Zimbabwe Emerging staged a comeback with disciplined bowling, restricting Uganda to 162/8 in 20 overs.
Left-arm spinner Victor Takudzwa Chirwa stood out with impressive figures of 3/20 in his four overs, including a maiden.
In response, Zimbabwe Emerging struggled to build partnerships against Uganda’s formidable bowling attack.
Siraj Nsubuga, who was named Player of the Match, delivered an exceptional spell, taking 3/15 in his four overs.
Uganda’s bowlers once again proved their dominance, with all Player of the Match awards in this tournament going to their bowlers.
Zimbabwe Emerging could only manage 108/9 in their allotted 20 overs, falling well short of the target.
In other matches, Rwanda XI defeated Rwanda A by 45 runs, keeping their hopes of reaching the finals alive.
With four points from five games, Rwanda XI will need to beat Zimbabwe Emerging in their final group match after the last rest day tomorrow and significantly improve their net run rate (NRR).
A win would tie them with Zimbabwe Emerging at six points, making NRR the deciding factor for the second finalist spot.
Meanwhile, Rwanda A remains winless at the bottom of the table with zero points from five games. Uganda A’s unbeaten run has placed them firmly at the top, followed by Zimbabwe Emerging and Rwanda XI
The tournament now enters a critical phase as teams battle for the remaining finals spot, with Uganda A eagerly awaiting their opponent.
The plan is straightforward: our players will go out there and freely express themselves.
