U-17 AFCON CECAFA Qualifiers groups were announced in a draw conducted on Thursday, in Kampala, Uganda at FUFA TV Studios.

The draw saw host nation Uganda placed in Group A alongside Ethiopia, Tanzania and Burundi.

The defending Champions of Somalia were comfortably laid in Group B with SouthSudan, Sudan and Kenya.

Somalia, South Sudan, Sudan, Kenya

The tournament that will be played between 14th and 27th December is set to centre stage at the Hamz Stadium, Nakivubo and St Mary’s Stadium, Kitende.

The last edition was hosted two years ago (2022) in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia and Somalia came out Champions after beating South Sudan 3-1 in the final.

Jean Sseninde, the CECAFA Women’s Football Development Manager who conducted draw said she expects a competitive tournament;

“We expect a very competitive tournament with the youngsters expressing themselves as much as possible,” Sseninde.

All teams will have their players undergo the mandatory Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) tests to determine if they are eligible to play in the tournament.

Only the best two teams will qualify to represent the CECAFA Zone at the Final CAF U-17 AFCON tournament to take place in 2025.
