Tornado Bees Cricket Club delivered when it mattered most, defeating last year’s semifinalists Wanderers twice at Lugogo Cricket Oval to clinch the final spot in the semifinals of the women’s T20 league.
Heading into the decisive double-header, the pressure was on Wanderers—only a win would have sent them through.
But their campaign unraveled in dramatic fashion during the first match, which went down to a super over after both teams finished with 89 runs from their 20 overs.
Tornado Bees held their nerve, posting 12 runs in the super over, while Wanderers faltered in reply, effectively ending their semifinal hopes.
Lynette Nakato was instrumental in the victory, claiming three wickets and earning the player-of-the-match award.

Despite starting the day ahead of both Wanderers and Tornado Bees, Pioneer saw their semifinal dreams dashed by the results, as they had no games left to influence the standings.
In the second match, Tornado Bees again won the toss and chose to bowl.
Their disciplined attack restricted Wanderers to just 73/9.
In response, the Bees chased down the target comfortably, losing only four wickets, with a steady performance that reflected their growing confidence.
The back-to-back wins elevated Tornado Bees to 10 points in Group A, securing them the final spot in the semifinals.
Meanwhile, in a Group B dead rubber, Jinja SS dominated Africa Cricket Club, winning both matches emphatically by 100 and 80 runs, respectively.
With the group stage now complete, the semifinal matchups are set: defending champions Soroti City will face Jinja SS, while Tornado Bees will take on Olila in what promises to be a tightly contested knockout round.
