Entale 65 all out in 37
Soroti City won by 271 runs
Soroti City delivered a dominant performance on Saturday at Lugogo Cricket Oval, thrashing Entale Cricket Club by a record 271 runs in Group A of Division Two action in the UCA Men’s 50-Over League.
After losing the toss, Soroti City was sent in to bat — a decision Entale would soon regret, but no, they are just a development side and they really needed it.
The Soroti batters took full advantage of favorable conditions, amassing a formidable 336 runs in 49.3 overs.
Their innings was powered by three commanding half-centuries from SCA fans president Richard Oluka (68), Hilary Kuteesa (59), and teenage prodigy Alban Ainebyona (59), who celebrated his maiden fifty in the league.
Both Oluka and Kuteesa were making their season debuts after returning from a brief hiatus, and their experience showed.
They anchored the innings with a blend of composure and aggression, laying the groundwork for a record total.
Despite the onslaught, Entale’s Stephen Aliganyira produced a notable bowling effort, claiming a five-wicket haul.
However, he was expensive, conceding 41 runs in his 8 overs. Solomon Ben Mulindwa and Larry Itaagi chipped in with two wickets apiece, but Soroti’s aggressive batting left Entale chasing shadows.
In reply, Entale’s batting lineup collapsed under relentless pressure from Soroti City’s bowlers.
The innings never gained momentum as Entale lost five wickets within the first 10 overs for just 19 runs.
Only Larry Itaagi (12) and Derrick Nyakahuma (17*), managed to reach double figures, as the side was bundled out for a mere 65 runs in 37.1 overs.
On the bowling front, Soroti City’s Derrick Bakunzi was the standout performer.
His brilliant spell of 5 for 18 in 10 overs at an economy of just 1.8 earned him the Player of the Match award.

Juma Sururu was also economical, returning figures of 2 wickets for just 5 runs in 10 overs.
While Entale’s defeat was heavy, the fact that the young, school-based team managed to bat into the 37th over is a positive takeaway.
Under the guidance of coach Ivan Thawithemwira, they’ll look to regroup and develop resilience moving forward.
With this win, Soroti City remains unbeaten after four matches and sits comfortably at the top of Group A with 8 points.
Entale, meanwhile, has just one win from four games and is currently at the bottom of the table with 2 points.
In a gesture of camaraderie and mentorship, Soroti Cricket Academy chairman Felix Musana— a close friend of coach Thawithemwira — took time after the match to speak with the young Entale players, offering encouragement and support as they continue their cricketing journey.
