Ismaili defeated Aboojo by 23 runs to win the finals, as the UG20 2025 Final provided a perfect climax to Ismaili Cricket Club’s turbulent yet inspiring campaign.

Their season had begun in dramatic fashion—a convincing 68-run victory over Premier CC that promised big things, only for Premier to strike back with a 19-run defeat in the reverse fixture.

The pattern continued against Avengers CC, where a nail-biting 2-run win was followed by a crushing 118-run loss.

Yet from these setbacks emerged a side determined to rise.

Ismaili found their rhythm with back-to-back wins over JACC, first by 6 wickets and then by 4.

Their confidence deepened through commanding victories over Tornado CC—by 9 wickets and 6 wickets—and they carried that momentum into dominant performances against Jinja SS CC, sealing wins by 7 wickets and a 46-run D/L verdict.

Finishing second in Group C, they marched into the knockouts with renewed belief.

A 14-run win over Kutchi Tigers CC in the quarterfinals and a tense 12-run triumph against Avengers in the semis paved their road to the grand finale.

And so came the showdown with Aboojo.

After being asked to bat, Ismaili stumbled early but regained footing through a magnificent 67-run stand between captain Riazat Ali Shah and Kamran Wali Khan.

Kamran’s gritty 40 off 45 and Riazat’s explosive 41 off 28 lifted them to 148, despite late-innings chaos triggered by quick wickets and sharp fielding.

Aboojo’s reply faltered from the very first ball—Riazat striking with venom.

At 15/3, the chase was in shambles, though brief resistance from Ivan Thawithemwira and Amos Ahura revived faint hopes.

But once their partnership broke, the required runs grew distant.

Even skipper Brian Asaba’s valiant unbeaten 28 could not rescue the innings, as Aboojo closed at 125/8, falling 23 runs short.

Riazat’s all-round brilliance earned him Player of the Match, supported by disciplined spells from Kamran and Ghulam Hunzai.

As celebrations erupted, Riazat reflected with joy on flying into the country just in time for the semis and finishing as champion.

He also praised the Aboojo community’s efforts—especially Ivan Thawi’s years of service in Fort Portal—while acknowledging the top-tier umpires who ensured the final was played in true sporting spirit.

With the sun setting over Entebbe Oval, Ismaili CC lifted the trophy—champions forged through resilience, unity, and a journey that will echo across UG20 folklore.
