Basketball fans were treated to a thrilling evening at the 2025 All-Star Women’s Basketball Tournament held Sunday at Lugogo Indoor Stadium.

The tournament featured intense competition, entertaining exhibition games, and a vibrant atmosphere highlighted by music and mentorship programs for young athletes.
Defending champions Team Ageno, captained by JT Lady Jaguars and Gazelles forward Sarah Ageno held their nerve in the dying moments to secure a 52-48 victory over Team Kamwada successfully retaining their title.
Team Kamwada led 48-47 with under a minute to play, setting up a tense finale. But Margaret Bagala came up with a game changing steal, intercepting Shakirah Nanvubya’s inbound pass before being fouled on a drive to the basket.
She converted the basket and completed the three point play, pushing Team Ageno ahead by two.
A costly turnover by Team Kamwada gave Fildauce Namuleme a trip to the free throw line, where she coolly sank both shots to seal the win.
With their victory, Team Ageno walked away with Shs3 million while Team Kamwada took home Shs2 million, both prizes courtesy of PostBank, the tournament’s headline sponsor.

Sarah Ageno was named the tournament’s Most Valuable Player (MVP) while Tracy Namugosa of Team Kamwada emerged as the top scorer.

Mercy Batamuliza who played for Team Kamwada, was recognized as the top rebounder.
Off the championship court, PostBank Uganda took center stage in an entertaining exhibition game, defeating the Parliament of Uganda 60-52.
Led by former Falcons and UCU Canons forward Steven Mwesige, PostBank showed impressive skill and teamwork, proving that there’s more to banking than just numbers.
Several Members of Parliament, including Amuria District Woman MP Suzan Amero and Koboko Woman MP Sharifah Aete Taban, took to the court with Omoro County MP Andrew Ojok Oulanya cheering from the stands.
The presence of PostBank’s MD Julius Kakeeto and Head of Marketing and Communications Priscilla Akora added prestige to the event, as they later presided over the awards ceremony.

The tournament also celebrated basketball’s rich history with Team Franceas defeating Team Viola 44-22 in the Legends Game featuring iconic players from the past.
Earlier in the day, young aspiring athletes had the chance to interact with former and current players during a mentorship program where they received guidance on basketball and life skills.
To round off an action packed event, artists King Saha and Vinka lit up the stadium with electrifying performances, keeping the crowd entertained beyond the basketball action.
