Uganda U-19 143 all out in 32.3 overs

Tanzania U-19 112/4 in 29 overs

Tanzania won by DL method

In the final of the Easter Youth 50-over Series at Lugogo Cricket Oval, Tanzania U19 triumphed over Uganda U19 in a rain-affected match decided by the Duckworth-Lewis (DLS) method.

Tanzania won the toss and opted to bowl first, a decision that proved to be crucial as they bowled Uganda U19 out for a low total.

The pitch, having endured five days of play, was challenging, with low bounce and significant turn.

Uganda’s batting faltered, with their only significant partnership being a 79-run stand for the third wicket between Kidega Christopher and Sohera Richard.

Uganda lost two early wickets in the first 10 overs, and despite Kidega’s half-century (55), they never fully recovered.

Tanzania’s spinners dominated the innings.

Hamza Ally Onai (3/33 in 9 overs), Augustine Meya Mwamele (3/31 in 9 overs), and Raymon Francis Emmanuel (3/42 in 8 overs) combined to take nine wickets, putting the Ugandan batsmen under constant pressure.

Uganda was eventually bowled out for 143 in 32.3 overs.

Tanzania’s chase was similarly challenging due to the difficult pitch.

After losing their first wicket in the opening over, Tanzania was in trouble at 42/4 after 17 overs.

However, Augustine Meya Mwamele, who had been dropped twice, made the most of his second chance, playing a vital knock.
With the rain interruption at 29 overs, Tanzania’s DLS target was set at 78, and they were comfortably placed at 112/4, with Meya Mwamele on 48* and Acrey Pascal Hugo on 45*.

Although Uganda’s Abdul Aziz Tandia delivered a strong bowling performance (2/11 in 9 overs), their fielding faltered, allowing Tanzania to seal a rain-affected victory under the DLS method.
