The Uganda Swimming Federation held successful elections at their AGM held at Lugogo indoor stadium on Saturday 13th March. Moses Mwase was voted back into office as the Federation president after collecting 28 votes, beating Peter Simon Mugisha who collected 14 votes from the 42 delegates who participated in the process.

Mwase who took over office from Donald Rukare in 2020 after the latter’s appointment as the National Council for Sports (NCS) chairman, was retained with a four-year term and has promised to spread the sport in the whole country as his first target in office.

“I am glad to have been given a new mandate by the AGM to lead the federation for the next four years. My emphasis is on us having our strategic plan refined so that we can have a new direction for the federation as our strategic plan with the executive is to expand swimming,“ Mwase said shortly after retaining his position.

The elect also emphasized that swimming is a sport for all as he looks forward to leaving a legacy as president by lobbying for a national aquatic facility.

“We want swimming to be for all as we revise the National coaches curriculum and having a National Aquatic centre and also encourage the development of Aquatic facilities across the country.”
